Jun Tosaka : ウィキペディア英語版
Jun Tosaka

was a Shōwa era Japanese intellectual. He was born in Tokyo in 1900. He attended Kyoto Imperial University with the intention of pursuing a career as a physicist. He became attracted to the philosophy of Nishida Kitaro, and Tanabe Hajime. After a year of military service, Tosaka became a teacher. By the late 1920s, he was drawn from neo-Kantianism to Marxism. He became a co-founder of the Society for the Study of Materialism. He was one of member of the Kyoto School. In 1934, Tosaka was dismissed from his teaching position for "seditious thought". In 1938, he was arrested under the Peace Preservation Law. He died in Nagano Prison before the end of World War II.
